Not every wall needs the same finish. Here's what each level actually means—and where it belongs.

  3. 3Texture readyJoints, fasteners and accessories are finished for texture.
  4. 4Smooth finishJoints, fasteners and accessories are finished smooth for paint.
  5. 5The skim coatA tight skim is applied over the entire drywall surface for demanding lighting and certain paint colors.
